The Lower Columbia Canoe Club (LCCC) of Portland, Oregon has the distinct advantage of access to over 100 local river trips within a 100-mile radius and a location that boasts 44 wild and scenic rivers. Over 200 members strong, the LCCC is first and foremost a recreational paddling club. Weekend trips are scheduled which range from flatwater to class IV whitewater. Overnight camping trips are extremely popular on rivers such as the Rogue, Snake, McKenzie, Umpqua, Deschutes, John Day, and Metolius. The LCCC offers excellent educational opportunities in order to enhance boaters’ enjoyment, skills, and safety. Flatwater and whitewater classes for solo and tandem canoeists, plus whitewater safety clinics for all boaters, are taught by some of the club’s best paddlers. In addition to paddling, many members are involved with regional river conservation and access issues. Club dues are just $20 a year.
