I wasn’t really looking to shoot a video, but came home with a few clips anyway. Most of this video is the rapid we call Landslide which has gotten easier over the years. I also pulled out the camera at a drop below Landslide. The NF Trask has a succession of four very fun drops after Landslide. Participants: Audrey Bergsma, Ted Housen, Kevin Lane, Rob Eliot (great to see you out there, Rob!), Kendall Springer, Robert Frisbee, Denny Egner, John Maroney, and Eric Lindenauer. Murray Johnson’s car got a flat on the notorious Trash roads, site of many a flat, and he ended up dealing with that and the poor excuse many cars these days have for a spare. Thanks for taking one for the team, Murray.

This is a video of the last weekend in March when the Beaver Canoe Club came down from Vancouver, BC to paddle with the LCCC. More paddlers than I can name. On the Wilson Narrows and the Marmot to Marmot section of the Sandy, we had about 19 paddlers each day. Wilson was 1,000 cfs and the Sandy was 2,100 cfs (Marmot gauge). Lots of great fun and sunshine as temps were in the 70s. My thanks to all the members of the Beavers who made it down for the weekend.
Driving out in rain and snow there was doubts the forecast for diminishing showers would hold, but once we were on the river, the rain stopped and by lunch we were seeing sun. Paddling that day: Bill Jordens and Bri Condon in the tandem, Karl Dinkelspiel in the yellow Phantom, Terry Miller in the black kayak, Robert Frisbee in the red Ovation, and Audrey Bergsma and me in our orange Preludes.

Once again, Mary Ann Jordens arranged a great Sweetheart Paddle and brought the treats. This year we returned to our 2010 venue, the East Fork of the Lewis, which was around 700 cfs. Amidst the clouds, rain, and breaks of sun, we even had a little adventure involving logs and a canoe. Fortunately, the Sweethearts in the canoe swam out long before the logs and just a little damage was done to the canoe. Paddling that day: Bri Condon, Greg Davenport, Patty Brooks, Bob and Karen Williams, Bill and Mary Ann Jordens, Jim and Jan Bollermann, Mike Keating and Mary Ella Kuster, Laurent and Nina Rochette, and Audrey Bergsma and Mark Scantlebury.
I didn’t get much footage of the runs, in fact my camera quit working on both of them, I’ve combined what I did get with the Wilson Devil’s Lake Fork run we did the last weekend in November on a sunny, cold day. Lots of great tandem action with Bill and Bri, then Bill and Audrey, and, in an IK, Ted and Kendall.
