LCCC Monthly Meetings

The club generally meets on the second Saturday of every month except during December and a couple of summer months. Non-members are encouraged to come to our Monthly Meetings to meet club members and learn about the club.

The January meeting is our Winter Party. The September meeting is the annual club picnic. Meetings are usually held at a club member's home.

Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. with a potluck dinner (BYOB). Everybody brings their own dinner service (plates and utensils) so clean up is easy. Homemade items are preferred (unless you're a bad cook!). For environmental reasons, disposable dinnerware is strongly discouraged.

At 7:30 p.m. the club discusses any club issues of importance. Generally this part of the meeting is short.

After the business meeting, around 7:45 p.m., the entertainment starts. The program will be listed in the month's newsletter and may be a slide show of a recent trip or an educational presentation. Program recommendations are appreciated and should be directed to the club vice president.

Some past programs have included:

  • A Canoe-Centric Journey Down the Grand Canyon (video by club members Dave and Laurie Robinson)
  • Journey Down the Noatak River (slide show by eight club members)
  • Numerous slide shows of canoeing above the Arctic Circle by club member Lee Sessions
  • Poop and Paws (slide presentation on tracking by club member Dennis Deck)
  • Canoe Journey Down the Mississippi (Lee Sessions)
  • Fauna of the Columbia Slough (a presentation by Metro)
  • Canoeing the Yampa River (slide show)
  • Canoeing the Selway River (slide show)
  • Paddling in Costa Rica (slide show by club member Dick Sisson)
